Susie Wonfor holds a British Wheel of Yoga (NVQ Level 4) Teaching Diploma. Her passion for yoga began in her years living in East Africa, with her personal path of yoga flourishing into teaching. It's Susie's personal practice and study (svadhaya) that provides the basis of her teaching, which she considers a vital resource, as well as continued annual training.
She offers weekly classes to all levels of student, in a style which combines a traditional Hatha Yoga foundation with dynamic and sequenced asana (postures) in a Vinyasa style. The breath is integral to the yoga practice, in which you will also develop a deeper connection to your breath and breathing techniques to support this. Meditative spaces are included and we end each session with relaxation. Susie likes to explore specific postures more deeply, allowing you to confidently develop a home practice. The class caters for complete beginners, who work with a safe and foundational practice, whilst offering deeper and more advanced posture work to the more experienced. It is important for each class member to practice for themselves and their body/mind and this is very much supported and explored in Susie's teaching methods.
Mental and emotional balance is also a core focus of the yoga practices, with encouragement to focus the mind and deepen present moment awareness. Mental and emotional balance is vital to one's quality of life and maintains health and balance in the body. Stress and anxiety create illness and disease and can be greater avoided through homeostasis and positive mental health.
Completion of a BWY health questionnaire is required before beginning the class. As well as for insurance cover, this allows consideration of any health issues and to ensure you both benefit from your practice and can work safely. Susie very much welcomes both men and women to the class and has a mix of both men and women attending classes.

Susie is a conscientious and informative instructor. She considers everyone’s comfort and wellbeing throughout the class. She incorporates a proper ‘warm up’ and relaxation so I always feel the benefits but no discomfort after a class.
The weekly benefits are subtle but positive- my psychological health really benefits from this weekly contact. Susie creates a lovely balance between practice and theory, explaining why. The opportunity to practice mindfulness is an added bonus.

I have been having online 1 to 1 yoga sessions with Susie for some months now. I have long COVID and these sessions have been so beneficial for my physical and emotional health.
