About Anne’s Yoga

I am a BSY registered Yoga instructor and I teach gentle Hatha Yoga aimed at those over forty. My classes are accessible for all ages and abilities.
I teach students to be mindful of their bodies whilst practicing, so that they work within their personal limitations. Many of my students have physical injuries or problems such as spondylosis, arthritis etc, and most poses (asanas) can be modified to suit individual needs.
Yoga practice helps to gain and maintain flexibility, muscle and bone strength, balance and breath control. As well as physical benefits, yoga can help to ease anxiety, stress, insomnia and much more.
All classes start with a very short grounding meditation and then a gentle head to toe warm up, which is very important to minimize risk of pulled muscles or injury to the joints. After the yoga practice, the class ends with a guided relaxation, because as well as physical practice for the body, it is very important to relax the mind as this has enormous benefits for well-being.
I have traditional mat classes in Charlestown at St Paul's Church Hall, Church Road,  11.30am-12.30pm on Tuesdays. Yoga classes also held at Cuddra WI Hall, 10.30-11.30am and 5.30-6.30pm on Fridays. I have a Chair Yoga for seniors class on Monday mornings at Cuddra Hall, 10.30-11.30am.
All classes are friendly and informal. Beginners are very welcome. Mats are available to borrow should you need. If you have any questions or would like to come along to one of my classes, please give me a ring or text on 0751 9172806.

Anne’s classes are very friendly and welcoming.
They are well planned to lead gently to poses that she demonstrates. She explains which areas of the body may benefit from a parlicular stretch and various ‘levels’ that you may adapt for your ability. She attends to each participant’s needs and observes and advises.
I’ve enjoyed all the classes that I have attended. They are gentle and relaxing I feel rejuvenated afterward.

I have been attending Anne’s yoga class for about 7 months and thoroughly enjoy the friendly, relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Anne is an excellent yoga teacher. She demonstrates and explains the yoga positions very clearly and also suggests alternatives if the exercises need to be adapted to suit your own needs. I always leave the class feeling relaxed and re-energised and would recommend the class to anyone who is looking for a gentle Hatha yoga class,

Anne runs a yoga class in Gorran Haven on a Wednesday morning at 10 am until 11. This is a class suitable for all, beginners to more experienced. Anne has time for us all, giving us clear instruction and with various changes if required depending on our individual needs and abilities.
It is a friendly and very enjoyable class. Anne is a great teacher and an inspiration.

I have been attending Anne’s class for a couple of months or so. I have seen a huge improvement in my strength and flexibility. The class is relaxed and the poses are gentle but very affective, each pose demonstrated and explained. I really enjoy every lesson and look forward to the next.

Anne’s Qi Gong classes are friendly and welcoming. Anne offers a range of exercises appropriate to the season and offers interesting explanations of the ways in which the different exercises benefit the body. Classes follow a gentle pace and start and end with relaxation. I look forward to each class and always feel better at the end of them.

I have been going to anne’s yoga classes for about 4 years now. At first i was a bit reticent about continuing as often I was the only male in the group and I am very much aware of being in what i would call female spaces. Not that it was an issue as i have been made to feel welcome from the start by anne and the ladies taking part. Initially my reasons for starting was from my psychiatrist as she knew that i was not coping from losing my wife and needed some normality and structure. After spending… Read more »

I really enjoy the class, with the calming atmosphere and the feeling of renewal each week.

I find that Anne’s yoga class suits me as it has a good balance between relaxation, warm up and the exercises which are different each week. Anne is a very calm and relaxed teacher who explains everything we do before we do it. I warmly recommend her.

I have issues with hip pain and poor balance. Since starting Anne’s class earlier this year I am experiencing less pain but perhaps even more importantly, I feel better in myself generally.

The class is relaxed and its great to work to my own limits without any pressure to be “ a full on yoga expert” .

I so look forward to my Friday morning session.

I joined Anne’s yoga classes earlier this year. I had had an extended period of serious illness which meant my fitness levels were not as they used to be. The classes are both gentle on the body and mind but also allow you to challenge different areas of your body each week. The group are very welcoming and everyone is encouraged to work within their own limits. Anne talks us through what we are doing each week with reference to both mindfulness and physiological wellbeing.
I can thoroughly recommend these classes.
